Smoky River Nursery and Landscaping started with a simple frustration: too many landscaping jobs in Central Kansas were either rushed, oversold, or handled by crews who didn’t actually know what grows here. We built something different — a place where the plants are chosen by people who understand Kansas clay, Kansas wind, and Kansas winters, and a crew that treats every install like it’s going in their own yard.
The Nursery Came First
Long before we picked up a shovel for an install, we were growing and stocking plants. That order matters. It means every tree, shrub, and perennial that goes into your landscape has already passed through hands that know plant health, not just installation schedules. We don’t outsource our materials to a supplier three states away — we walk our own nursery rows at 712 N Grand Ave in Lyons before anything goes in your ground.
A Crew That Stays
Landscaping is physical, detailed work, and it shows when a crew has done it together for years versus a crew thrown together for the season. Our installers know irrigation lines, drainage grading, and paver bases the way a good mechanic knows an engine — by feel, not just by manual.
