How We Size a System

Every design starts with a water source and pressure check — the available flow and pressure at your tap determines how many heads can run per zone before performance drops off. From there we map precipitation rate against soil type, since clay-heavy Kansas soil absorbs water more slowly than sandy soil and needs longer, less frequent run times to avoid runoff instead of short daily cycles that just sit on the surface.

Matching Heads and Zones to Sun and Shade

A front yard in full sun and a shaded north side of the house dry out at completely different rates, so we split them into separate zones with separate run times rather than lumping the whole lawn into one schedule. The same logic applies to turf versus beds — different precipitation rates and root depths mean they should almost never share a zone.
